Why are you a stylist?

I was recently asked "Why I do what I do?"... Well it actually took me a minute to figure it out. In the beginning of my career I didn't know it was going to be my career 🤷🏼‍♀️ I took Cosmetology in highschool so I wouldn't have to do another foreign language class (It was bad I barely passed French). Anyway as I was in Cosmetology I really enjoyed interacting with other people. Also I figured I could do hair while in college figuring out what I wanted to be when I grew up. But as I kept working and learning I honestly fell in love with job. Meeting new people every day but also building friendships and relationships with my regulars. I took college classes for 6 years; after that I didn't have a degree but I still had this amazing job. So I accepted that this was my career. I mean don't get me wrong I have fought it through the years. Thinking I should be doing something more, something grand, changing the world! What I should have realized is that I was; but on a smaller scale. I can be the positive person my client needed after a day of stress and worry. I can be that listening ear when they don't feel heard. So why do I do what I do? Because I want to be the nice person and also make people feel like their best selves!
